If we are just in participant mode we tend to be in chronic reaction mode. We react and then we don’t react and then we react again. When we can cultivate the non-judgmental observer, our reactions become less intense, less frequent, and the duration of our reaction will be shorter. We develop emotional resiliency and that’s really a big part of emotional martial arts, developing emotional resiliency.
