During our March 22 EMA event, Dr. H will show us – with storytelling and humor – how it is possible, and in our best interest, to not take things personally, especially when things feel so personal.

Join us Tuesday, March 22 from 6:30 PM to 8:15 PM (doors open at 6:15) at California Institute for Human Science, 701 Garden View Court, Encinitas.

Dr. H and his Transformational Sound Healers will also lead us with live music in a sound healing experience that gently deepens the power of the work of EMA (i.e., identifying hidden emotions and loosening the “knots” of judgment that keep things personal) through music, guided imagery and meditation.

Please remember to bring a mat, pillow or blanket to ensure your comfort lying on the floor. Chairs are available if preferred.

More thoughts on taking things personally

In The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom, Don Miguel Ruiz addresses not taking things personally. In fact, Don’t Take Anything Personally is the Second Agreement.

He says, “Don’t take anything personally, because by taking things personally you set yourself up to suffer for nothing.”

Dr H reminds us to add to The Second Agreement — Don’t take anything personally… AND it’s important to acknowledge the emotions that things can feel personal. Once we learn to recognize and validate those feelings, we learn that we are secondary players in other people’s stories. We evolve to the next level of human interaction ~ your stuff is your stuff and my stuff is mine.

Now that’s a recipe for waging inner peace if ever there was one!

Here’s a Super Soul Sunday episode where Don Miguel talks to Oprah about the Second Agreement.
